About Us.

Hüftgold is a German food trailer that will service San Antonio and the surrounding area.  Hüftgold Will offer  the classics like Schnitzel, Wursts, and Pretzels along with some new adaptations and regional specialties from my personal experiences growing up in Kansas and attending Culinary School and working under award winning chefs in Portland, Oregon.  We plan to use local ingredients as much as possible to keep the money in the community.

My Story

My name is Justin Evans and I am the owner of the new Hüftgold food trailer in San Antonio, TX.  For as long as I can remember I have always loved food.  Cooking, eating, sharing, but most of all I love how food brings family and friends together.  I also love how a certain smell or taste of food can bring back memories of times you have spent with your loved ones.  That’s why I do what I do.  It is my pleasure to share my kitchen with my friends and family because I enjoy making people happy and bringing back good memories with my food.  The reactions I get when people really like what I’ve cooked are priceless.

I also enjoy being creative in the kitchen and trying new things.  That’s what led me to quit my corporate job back in 2016 and follow my passion by enrolling in culinary school.  I was able to fine tune my skills and try new things I never would have imagined I’d be putting in my pie hole. It was a blast being around students and chefs that had the same passion for food and one of my best experiences so far.

So how did I end up in San Antonio with a food trailer slingin’ schnitzels and sausages?  The short answer is Family.  My wife and I wanted to move closer to family because we kept missing those dinners and gatherings that are so important.  San Antonio also presented a great opportunity for someone in my position.   Hüftgold is a German street food trailer and there is a ton of German heritage and influence in San Antonio and the surrounding areas.  If you don’t believe me just look at the annual Wurstfest held every year in New Braunfels.  It’s a festival rich in German culture and touted as “The best 10 days in sausage history”.  The problem is that aside from Wurstfest which is only 10 days, there really aren’t many places to get great German food year round.  That’s where I come to the rescue.   Every day  I will be serving the classics like Schnitzel, Wursts, and Pretzels along with some new adaptations and regional specialties from my personal experiences growing up in Kansas and attending Culinary School and working under award winning chefs in Portland, Oregon.

I want to formally invite you to follow my journey and I hope to one day put a smile on your face by putting some good food in your mouth.  Please give me a follow and a like @ HuftgoldSA on Instagram and Facebook and take this crazy journey with me.  Prost!
